Marble is a metamorphic rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate. It is characterised by its crystalline structure and distinctive veining, which varies according to its chemical composition and formation conditions.
It is softer than granite and has a hardness of 3 on the Mohs scale. Marble is a very popular material for sculpture and architecture, and is also used for flooring, wall cladding, staircases and other furnishing elements.
Technical marble is an excellent material to use for kitchen countertops. It shows very good qualities in terms of performance and durability. It is water-repellent, resistant to high temperatures, acids and oils, and has a minimum thickness of 20 mm.
