Quartz is a compound mineral that occurs in many different crystalline forms, including transparent quartz, smoky quartz, rose quartz and blue quartz.
It is one of the most common minerals on Earth and is found in many rocks, including granites, gneisses and sandstones. It is very hard and resistant to shattering, with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
Transparent quartz is used as a gemstone in jewellery, while smoky quartz and other varieties can be used for the production of slabs, floors, ceilings and other furnishing elements.
